  • Comparison: Amazon Echo, HomePod and Google Home? Duel of smart speakers

The Google Nest Mini, the new version of the Google Home Mini, is a little pot that you forget exists until you remember that you can ask him to do things. I do not say it badly: good technology you forget that it is there and you use it in a natural way and without thinking about it.

My problem is that the uses that can be given to the Nest Mini or are supplied by its competition or are insufficient, that is, if you use an Alexa speaker or if you use a larger and more powerful speaker to listen to music. The latter is my case, because I have no habit of using Alexa or Siri or Google Assistant.

But if you are a person wanting to enter the world of smart speakers, the Nest Mini costs only 39 euros and as a speaker that you use circumstantially to listen to music you can use it. Hence the headline: do not ask for more because it serves for those two things. If you want something more powerful or with more uses, you will have to spend more.

What, again, is not a criticism in itself, but a point. For 39 euros, it doesn't hurt because you don't have to. You talk to him and answer. You ask him to play music and he plays it. And it does what it can given its size.

If I ask for the time, he gives it to me. If I ask for a simple search, too. Time, a news, if you have the lights synchronized with Google Home, you turn down or turn up the intensity as you ask ... In my opinion, Alexa has more skills, but if you use the Google Assistant, it works perfectly.

It should be appreciated that it is beautiful: the fabric is not cleaned badly and can be purchased in two colors, black and white, I feel this is the dirtiest. If you are going to put it in the kitchen, I do not rule out that it accumulates fat after a while, so be careful.

But it is a speaker and it looks like a speaker, but it takes up very little space, it always has its ear on (this does not have to be a good thing, we already know how all the great technologies work with our data) and it can even be hung up, If you want to have it that way.

Its only button serves to silence it, so you don't have to always be aware of what you do. Some say it's even a matter of good etiquette to cover your ears when you have guests at home.

In my head, the Nest Mini is a perfect speaker to start someone on these smart speakers, so as a gift it is a nice touch. Its price is also appropriate for this category. If you want something more advanced, Google has more powerful models although with similar functions, yes.
