One of the waffles with strawberry chocolate. THE POLLERÍA

La Pollería is a place that has just opened in Madrid's Barbieri street. The idea is simple, but provocative: phallic buns accompanied by different creams.

Last week Pedro Buerbaum, a 34-year-old from Tenerife, opened La Pollería (Barbieri, 23), a place in the Chueca neighborhood that sells penis-shaped waffles. He calls them 'pollofres' and, although he supposed that making buns as phalluses in the gay zone par excellence of the capital was going to be a "ball", he has fallen short.

The place, says Pedro, is very small and, at least for now, is boat by boat. Therefore, the public consumes the 'pollofres' at the door and the laughter of the diners infect other pedestrians. It is already known that bizarre humor never fails. " It has been virally tremendous , because customers share photos and videos on their networks. We have a lot of followers [right now more than 4,500 on Instagram], and we have also created profiles in Tinder and Grindr," he explains.

Buerbaum also has a place in Malasaña where it makes ice cream with cotton candy. While thinking about how to overcome the seasonal bump of a summer business, he came up with this idea, original and provocative. Waffles are made with the traditional recipe and wait, when 'landing' of this success, also prepare them with alternative ingredients: "We have received more than 300 comments asking if we make them vegan , but they are made with milk, egg ... and for I see the moment as difficult. Later, we would like to be able to offer 'pollofres' for coeliacs, "he says.

Waffles cost 3.80 euros plus 0.50 for bathing them in some cream. Now they have dark chocolate syrup, Nutella, strawberry chocolate, a sweet blue vanilla, Kinder Bueno cream and white chocolate , "which is the star topping." Again, bizarre humor.

They are made with plates and measure 17 centimeters. Whether they are considered realistic or not it is flour from another sack. "Next week we want to start filling them out below too," he says. The case is to innovate and continue feeding the word of mouth, although the owner acknowledges that the first one surprised is him: "A lot of female audiences, gays and also many heterosexual couples come. They take it as a game. Even older people."

This entrepreneur is clear that now it is about taking advantage of the pull: he is preparing for the Gay Pride week and they have already proposed to put 'stands' at various gay festivals. Although in the USSR there has been a certain debate about whether 'pollofres' reify man and whether the LGTBI group is hypersexualized , the owner prefers to stay out of the way and that the controversy feeds the 'hype': "We are neutral. We are we make waffles with a fun way, "he concludes
