President Moon Jae-in attended the ceremony and said he would honor the sublime spirit of sacrifice by calling Captain Kim Jong-pil, Vice-Chairman Lee Jong-hoo, inspector of aviation equipment, Jung Hyuk Yong, Baek Hyuk rescue team and Park Dan-bi paramedics.

The joint ceremony took place 41 days after five firefighters and two civilians went missing when a firefighting helicopter crashed and took off in Dokdo on October 31.

Three firefighters and one civilian were recovered, but three others, captains and rescuers, have not returned to their families.

The five heroes, who were honest, went to sleep at the National Cemetery, leaving behind the sorrow of their family and colleagues.
