Several police officers received at their homes anonymous letters threatening their families. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner denounced facts "of extreme gravity".

The Alternative Police unions (CFDT) and SGP Police FO Unit reported Thursday their "dread" and concern after police received anonymous letters threatening their families with reprisals. In a statement, Alternative joined the photo of a letter signed ACAB ("All Cops Are Bastards", an acronym meaning "All cops are bastards", ed ) addressed to a CRS, and whose author threatens to s' take it from his family. The secretary general of the union, Denis Jacob, told AFP that several police officers, CRS, had received the same mail.

Questioned by AFP, the national police reported "three shipments", all addressed to CRS, adding that there had been "filing a complaint" and opening an "investigation". The union unit SGP Police FO evokes for its part "a few dozen" letters addressed to the home of CRS on the move. "What is happening in our country is very serious, we have gone through an additional stage of a Republic in the process of failing because these ramparts are attacked and threatened in their flesh."

Christophe Castaner denounces facts "of extreme gravity"

"The facts reported by @UNITESGPPOLICE are extremely serious," reacted on Twitter Christophe Castaner in the evening. "Everything must be done to identify the perpetrators of this infamy, I will never accept that those who protect us, even those in their homes, are threatened, these acts must be condemned by all," he adds.

Earlier, Alternative Police CFDT had "alerted the Minister of the Interior and more generally the government on the recurrence of these threats that call for the greatest firmness but also all security guarantees for the police and their families."
It demands that an "investigation be conducted" and that "the justice applies without reserve especially firm sentences against the authors without possibility of reprieve or any other meekness".
