The Madrid actress stars in 'Advantages of traveling by train', a black comedy with surreal touches divided into several stories
«This is one of those films that, as an actress, is a challenge you always want to do. For different and original ». This is how blunt Pilar Castro (Madrid, 1970) expresses when he talks about Advantages of traveling by train , a black comedy tinged with surreal moments divided into several stories. In it, the character played by the actress from Madrid serves as a thread to give way to the different chapters. "The film is completed with several stories in which Helga, my character, is like a traveler who goes from car to car through very different frames," says Pilar Castro. «She is a woman who suffers a lot. A true survivor who discovers that she is immersed in a relationship in which she needs to be loved but is mistreated. The bad thing is that she is next to someone who forces her to do things that seem normal and are not. I needed to give humanity to a woman who must say no.
Among the actors participating in the film include Luis Tosar, Belén Cuesta, Ernesto Alterio. Macarena García or Javier Botet. A set of familiar faces for which the interpreter of films such as Football Days , The two sides of the bed or Gordos only has praise. «We are all very happy to have achieved something so difficult. I think we have been very brave at the time of having gotten fully into this story without judging our characters and giving them as much humanity as possible. Because, despite everything, they seem very real. I have always believed that reality surpasses fiction ».
One of the key moments of this film is a cruel but fair murder in which Castro's character is supposed to participate and that will attract the attention of the most sensitive spectator by the marked Gore tone. «That scene with Quim Gutiérrez has been difficult to do while giving us great pleasure (laughs). In real life, I would never dare to do something similar because I don't like violence. We did not know how it would look on screen, but I think it looked very good ».
Finally, the actress looks forward to the public's verdict. Although, curiously, she considers herself the greatest critic of her own work. «I don't like to see myself on the screen. I get very nervous when I discover the result. At least, the first time. As I always say, what is done is done ».
