Du, a subsidiary of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, today announced that it has achieved an unprecedented achievement in the world in the speed of downloading and uploading data through an independent 5G network at 2 Gbps, using a single carrier with 100 MHz bandwidth. In the frequency system (Band C).

Du's recent 5G standalone experience marks a significant step forward in the next phase of commercial 5G development, which is now closer to reality with a 2Gbps download speed. Per second using a single carrier at a frequency of 3.5 GHz with a bandwidth of 100 MHz.

During the experiment, du achieved an average speed of about 1.8 Gbps in data download and 213 Mbps when downloading data over the network with a reduced response time to less than 10 milliseconds. This achievement was achieved through the commercial 5G network using an independent local 5G cloud core network with mini software services and data container systems. In the experiment, a 5G independent smartphone with MIMO 4X4 and 256 QAM was used for data download, while MIMO 2X2 and 256 QAM were used for data download. Salim Al Balooshi, Chief Technology Officer of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, said: “Today, we are proud to achieve this unprecedented achievement in the speed of data download and upload via an independent 5G network, marking a milestone in the history of the UAE telecommunications sector. The foundation stone to benefit from the potential of the 5G network and harness it to human services and business sectors in the country in line with the vision of the Smart City and the goals of the national agenda. We are committed to continuing to work closely with our partners to make the commercial 5G network a reality in the UAE by deploying and integrating the latest technology and software supporting the new technology into our core network and access network. ”
