Snapdragon 665 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, four cameras (the main one, 48 megapixels, is accompanied by a wide angle lens, a 2 megapixel macro and a depth sensor), 6 LCD screen, 3 inches Full HD + ... And all this, from 179 euros . The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T could be the best phone for its price and it is possible to argue that it is the one that offers the most. It is a phone with a mission: to demonstrate that the low range no longer exists in quality, only in price. It has a trick, and that is that Xiaomi itself presents the device as a mid-range with input terminal price.

The consequence of all this is that the difference with the average ranges -the real ones- and high ranges is almost imperceptible at the level of performance for the average user. There will, of course, but this is something that is more noticeable at the level of design, materials and extra features than in the competition when it comes to moving games. Whoever buys a Redmi Note 8T will hardly be disappointed, unless you expect an iPhone 11 or a Galaxy Note 10.

Thus, from the point of view of the components the performance is more than correct. Everything moves smoothly, looks great on a large screen -by size and resolution- and endures a day of use (with its night) without disheveled. This is rounded off by a camera that is usually the weak point in this range. Where others have a lens and little desire, Xiaomi puts four and quite a lot of effort. But let's not get ahead.

It is somewhat surprising that there is a basic version that can be cut short in both RAM and storage when for only 20 euros (that is, 199 in total ) there is a model that increases the first to 4 GB and doubles the second, which is It is in a more respectable 64 GB. To this we must add a third device that again multiplies the space by two and boasts 128 GB for 249 euros. No one should opt for the most economical model unless those 20 euros make a big difference.

The appearance of any of these phones is the same, with a glass-coated body and a gradient design (available in white, blue and black) that ranges between elegant and boring. The black model is sober - possibly too much - while the others are somewhat more striking.

The Redmi Note 8T is as pleasant to the touch as bulky and deep (it is parked at 200 grams). If it is already large in itself, the fact of having a considerable frame, especially at the bottom, feels like a t-shirt attached to a beer belly ... Especially from the bottom. In figures, the screen occupies 88.3% of the front, a percentage that in these times is far from astonishing.

Its drop-shaped notch takes advantage of the fact that we have become accustomed to their existence, but at some point we will look back and see them as what they are: the technological equivalent to the shoulder pads and the cards of the eighties. Let everyone do it or it means it's a good idea.

In the back, the prominence, no matter how many gradients it has, is taken by the cameras, which, in vertical arrangement, occupy almost a third of the telephone. It was difficult to place them in another way and the truth is that they look good, although the phone wobbles when it rests on them. Next to these, a fingerprint reader that works perfectly, but that would be more comfortable under the screen.

The important thing, of course, is not how the cameras are, but the photos. And they look great: it is a versatile phone that achieves surprising results - hardly comparable in its price range -, especially in good light conditions.

The portrait mode is perhaps the one that behaves the best, despite the fact that in the recreation that you do in real time before taking the photo it seems that the result will be disastrous. Nothing is further from reality; It is a machine to create profile photos. Of course, it is better not to overdo the bokeh effect, because as soon as it is exaggerated a little, it loses all naturalness and becomes an exaggerated and artificial blur.

The photo and the 48 megapixels have part of marketing, because in mobile photography, not everything is who has the largest number. Size matters; the software behind it, too. This makes it a great camera compared to its competition and a great camera for its price, even if we consider that it lacks optical zoom. At other levels there are much better, but the simple fact that they appear in the same conversation, even to contextualize already says a lot.

Inside it has version 10.3.1 of MIUI , a personalization layer that combines practical functions and elegant design with questionable decisions and unnecessary and third-party applications that may be the price to pay for that: the price. Personally, I prefer the pure versions of Android, but it is a matter of taste and what is true is that there are rivals - we will not point out to anyone, that it is rude - that they do much worse. In any case, it should be updated soon to version 11.

All this makes the Redmi Note 8T one of the candidates to establish itself as the best available phone for less than 200 euros. It may not be, which would be great news: it would confirm that the low range is not bad, just cheap.
