• Security: 'Ransomware', a word to keep in mind
  • Virus. This ransomware demands nudes instead of money to unlock your files

The SER chain has suffered this morning an attack of computer virus of the ransomware type, (a program that encrypts the files of the computer and prevents access to them), which has had a "serious and widespread" affectation of all its computer systems , as reported by the station itself. Accenture and Everis also seem to have been affected.

As reported by the DNS, the attack has affected " strategic companies in Spain ", while others "have requested their employees to prevent equipment shutdown and have blocked all incoming mail and browsing their networks to prevent infections."

Apparently, the attack was not aimed specifically at these companies , but rather it has been "an attack launched in a massive way that affects vulnerable teams around the world."

In this way, the chain has explained that, following the protocol established in cyber attacks, the SER has been "in need of disconnecting all its operating computer systems". When a computer is infected by one of these viruses, the user only sees a message that asks for the payment of a certain amount to re-access the files of the computer. In addition, it can affect other computers connected to the same network.

"At this time, the issuance of the SER is guaranteed from its headquarters in Madrid, supported by autonomous teams," said the station. They have also explained that their technicians "are already working for the progressive recovery of the local programming of each of their stations".

The DNS recommends "disconnecting from the networks those devices that do not have the latest updates to prevent prevent new infections."
