The Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office of Criminal Prosecutors indicted Park Jae-wook, the owner of Tada, and Jae-woong Lee, the parent company of Soka, on charges of violating the Passenger Vehicle Transportation Business Law.

In accordance with the Punishment Regulations, both companies were also prosecuted together.

Nine people, including former and current executives of the Seoul Private Taxi Association, filed a complaint with the prosecution on February 11 for violating the Passenger Car Transportation Business Law.

Mr. Lee is accused of carrying a passenger car transportation business without license using a 11-seater van and driver through a smartphone application.

Article 34 of the Passenger Car Transportation Business Law stipulates that car rental companies must not transport passengers for a fee in response to the demand of others.

However, we have an exception for rent-a-car companies to pick up drivers for passengers who are 11 or more passengers and 15 or less passengers.

That's the reason the other side has claimed it's not illegal business.

The prosecution, however, used the exception to determine that it violated the law.

Beyond simple article placement, we hired articles in employment form and actually carried on shipping.

The prosecution explained that the decision was made not only by investigating the parties but also by receiving opinions from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
