'Kapital: 25 years of partying', a UEtv documentary.

The TV Editorial Unit cameras film how Teatro Kapital has remained on the Madrid leisure podium, struggling to offer a unique show every night

- It's a temple.

- Sounds like none.

- What happens there is magic.

- You can consider the theater of dreams.

Those who speak could be any of the hundreds of thousands of anonymous people who have ever enjoyed the seven floors of music and entertainment offered by the Kapital Theater since it opened its doors in 1994. But they are the voices of soccer players, politicians, singers and different celebrities from the world of cinema, television and fashion. A whole constellation of stars who have shared their memories about the mythical nightclub, a reference of Madrid's night, in a documentary produced by TV Editorial Unit that was presented this Thursday at the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid.

For an hour, Vicente del Bosque , Santiago Segura , Fonsi Nieto , José Mota , David Bustamante or Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada reveal their experiences at the disco, accompanying during the footage the workers who make it possible that, every weekend, people from all the neighborhoods of Madrid they can dance alongside the jet set of the moment ( Rafa Nadal , Ana Obregón , Cristiano Ronaldo , Naomi Campbell , Iker Casillas ...), sharing space with the best DJs and artists of the moment. This is the case of Carolina Soriano , Events coordinator, or Manuel Martín , director of Hospitality, who was already working in the emblematic building of the Atocha 125 street, in the middle of the art triangle formed by the Thyssen, Prado and Reina Sofía museums, when it was still called Titanic. Designed a century ago by Eduardo Lozano Lardet with the idea that it would function as a theater, it quickly became a cinema (the legendary San Carlos, opened in 1929 and with capacity for 2,500 people), was used as a military installation during the Civil War and Finally, it has ended up hosting one of the most important discos in Europe, where more than 150 people are currently working.

"The most difficult thing at the time of approaching the documentary has been to talk about the present, the past and the future. We have been able to do it thanks to the help of well-known people, who have given us their help in a selfless way, told his experience during all these years at the Kapital Theater, "says David de las Heras , general manager of Grupo Kapital and the person who has accompanied the cameras of Unit Editorial TV for three months, who have filmed in detail the preparation of the party Sir Black while compiling the best kept secrets of the enclosure throughout its history.

"It is very easy to talk about the past, but it is difficult to draw attention to the young public, more aware of the present, of the immediate. We wanted it to be an interesting documentary, but that it did not look like a history lesson, with the handicap that We didn't have many videos and images of the first ones, so it was essential to have the experience of those who have dedicated themselves throughout this time to enforce our slogan: the important thing is not what we do, it's how we make you feel . This documentary also serves as recognition for people in the shade, which makes it possible for the ship to reach the port but does not always shine as it should, "says De las Heras.

"It has been a challenge and at the same time a great responsibility to try to summarize 25 years of this reference of leisure in a single hour. Surely we have left someone out because if we told an anecdote of all the characters that have passed through Kapital, we would have to make a complete series with several seasons, "jokes David Castro , director of the documentary.

When addressing the project, Castro's intention was clear: show that " Kapital is not just lights and drinks to the sound of a DJ ", but behind each event, each celebration, the work of a huge Human team formed by those in charge of security, public relations, those responsible for costumes and cleaning, waiters ...

"We wanted the protagonists to tell us the history of Kapital Theater firsthand," Castro adds. "That they did it from both sides: both the guests who make the magical nights, and the big family of the disco , which has opened the doors wide." Because after all, they are all part of the history of Kapital. And Kapital (as those university students who looked like crazy flyers with disco discounts at the beginning of the 21st century and who are now elite athletes or hold different positions of responsibility in the country remember) is part of the history of Madrid . Or so at least all those who have been protagonists of some of those "fairy tales" that have been given, give and give on their terrace, in their Latin music plant, in the armchairs next to karaoke ...
