The Ministry of Environment amends the Indoor Air Quality Control Act to more strictly control indoor fine dust on public transportation vehicles and vulnerable facilities.

The material to be managed in public transportation vehicles such as subways, railroads, and intercity buses was 'fine dust', but in the future, we will manage the air quality by measuring 'ultrafine dust' in consideration of human risks and domestic and international management trends.

Regardless of the vehicle model, ultrafine dust should not exceed 50 µg per cubic meter of vehicle interior.

Carbon dioxide should remain at current standards, with 2,500 ppm below congestion and 2,000 ppm below congestion.

The measurement cycle is also enhanced once every two years to once a year.

Some multi-use facilities, which are frequently used by vulnerable groups, have also been newly added to the indoor air quality management law, including indoor children's play facilities with a total floor area of 430 square meters and home and cooperative daycare centers.

The facility should manage fine dust, ultrafine dust and formaldehyde below three levels.

The amendment to the Indoor Air Quality Control Act will be implemented from April 2020 after 40 days' legislative notice from tomorrow (25th).
