A criminal investigation for homicide was initiated after the discovery of a woman's body with a knife in the chest. His ex-spouse is actively sought.

The former spouse of a woman found dead Monday in Bordeaux with stab wounds and a knife planted in the chest was "actively sought" Tuesday by the police, AFP learned from the prosecution. A criminal investigation for intentional homicide was opened and entrusted to the Departmental Brigade of Family Protection (BDPF).

The victim, a 35-year-old woman, was found Monday afternoon by help from neighbors in the common areas of the 2nd floor of a 12-storey residence in the popular Grand Park neighborhood.

She wore stab wounds at the neck and had a knife stuck in the chest, AFP said. She was declared dead on the spot by the Smur.

In 2018, 121 women were killed by their spouse or ex-companion in France, according to the Ministry of the Interior. This figure has already been reached in 2019, according to the count of associations.
