• Bahamas: Hurricane Dorian leaves 2,500 missing

"A miracle in the Bahamas ." Little Miracle could not have been given another name after surviving three weeks trapped under the rubble of a house in Marsh Harbor , a small town in the Bahamas that was completely destroyed after the passage of Hurricane Dorian, which left at least 50 dead and more than 2,500 missing in the archipelago.

Almost a month after Dorian's devastating passage, the Big Dog Ranch Rescue dog shelter continues to search for pets trapped in the rubble in Marsh Harbor, with the help of special equipment and technology. A drone with an infrared camera located last Friday a puppy under an air conditioner in a building collapsed by the hurricane, the organization said on its website.

Miracle had survived by drinking rainwater, but was malnourished, in the bones. "The rescue teams didn't see it, nobody saw it," says the organization on their Facebook profile, "they couldn't even hear the puppy, starving, dehydrated, too weak even to moan."

Miracle is another miracle of those obtained by Big Dog Ranch Rescue, which has already rescued 138 dogs in the Bahamas and is expanding its facilities to accommodate all saved dogs, which are available for adoption. Many of the animals were separated from their families in mass evacuations.

"There are still many hidden dogs that do not dare to leave because they are scared of the heavy machinery with which they work in the area," warns Lauree Simmons , founder and president of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, to the WPTV network.

Together with Miracle, rescue teams found another dog, this one dead. Now, the organization will look for his family and, if they don't find it, the puppy will be put up for adoption to find a new home.
