Personal data from more than twenty million Russian citizens are lying on the street due to a large leak, security company Comparitech reports . This concerns tax information that has been open on the internet for months.
The security company discovered the database with data at the beginning of September. The owner of the server on which the database could be consulted was informed and the data has now been taken offline.
The database contained data from Russian taxpayers between 2019 and 2016. The data contained the full name, address, passport number, telephone number, tax number, employer name and the amount of tax paid.
All data was stored unencrypted and accessible since May 2018. It is not known who put the data online.
