The Italian Minister of the Environment had called in late 2018 for a national ban on hunting, after the death of a young man of 18 years in similar circumstances.

An Italian killed his father when he thought he was targeting a wild boar during a hunting party in the south of the country, local media reported on Sunday.

Martino Gaudioso, 55, was fatally shot in the stomach by a shot from his 34-year-old son, while the two men hunted game in thick foliage in Sicignano degli Alburni, near Salerno. The tragedy took place in a part of a national park normally closed to hunters.
