On September 20, 1934, the icebreaker Fyodor Litke, under the command of Captain Nikolai Nikolaev, completed the first through navigation in the history of the Northern Sea Route in one navigation. The campaign from Vladivostok to Murmansk lasted more than two months. During it, the crew of Fyodor Litke applied a technique of advancement in difficult climatic conditions of the Far North with the support of other vessels and thorough air reconnaissance. The experience gained then made it possible to make such trips regular in the future.
