Google has started rolling out the dark mode for the Play Store app. The mode has been made available to Android 10 users since this week, XDA Developers reports.
This means that the dark mode is not immediately usable by everyone, but is slowly made available for smartphones with Android 10.
On Wednesday, Google also started rolling out the dark mode for Gmail on Android. The Play Store and Gmail were the last two Google apps that had not yet been provided with this option for Android 10.
In addition to Google, many other software developers also opt for a dark mode in their apps. A dark mode is less stressful for the eyes in a dark environment. In addition, a dark mode has the advantage that black parts can be switched off on an OLED screen, which in theory means that the battery can be used for longer.
Google started the rollout of Android 10 at the beginning of September. Manufacturers of smartphones decide for themselves whether they will make the operating system update available for their devices.
