When Samsung officially presented its folding phone, Galaxy Fold, on February 20, the South Korean company did not hesitate to give the price - 1980 euros - and the date of its new star phone. This simple act was an effective way to stand up to Huawei (whose folding mobile was presented a week later but without a date) with a launch that was no longer a prototype, it was a real phone with a screen capable of bending and that would be in User hands only two months later, in April.

Or that is what they believed in Samsung until this story was distorted. April came and Samsung decided to lend its Galaxy Fold to some specialized journalists so they could flip what was already considered the star phone of the year, just a few days before it was put up for sale. But Samsung had rushed. His terminal was not ready to take action and many reporters were able to attest to this: the screen had small bumps and even black spots that completely prevented the use of the mobile. You could say that these journalists saved Samsung from a global crisis similar to that of the Galaxy Note 7 in 2016, a phone that had to be removed from the market and that cost the company about 7.5 billion dollars.

Samsung acknowledged the error and last July assured that the (second) debut of its Galaxy Fold will be this September . Casualties of life, the same month in which Huawei is expected to release its flexible smartphone. "The company has dedicated the necessary time to analyze and fully evaluate the product design, making the necessary improvements and performing rigorous tests that validate the proposed changes," Samsung said in a statement.

A South Korean media said this week that the date chosen by Samsung to get back on stage to the Galaxy Fold and count all the improvements that the brand has implemented to avoid a new crisis is September 6. If so, the IFA technology fair in Berlin could be the framework selected by Samsung, as this day coincides with the start of the German fair in which the company has its own pavilion.

Huawei Mate X

The Chinese tech giant left more than one mouth open at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona held at the end of February when, just a week after Samsung, the CEO of Huawei, Richard Yu, took a folded phone out of his pocket, the Huawei Mate X. Very few have been able to see this device up close, since since then, and six months have passed, the Chinese woman usually shows her folding phone behind a showcase as if it were the Royal Crown.

At that time, the Asian company simply gave the price of its device -2,299 euros- and said it would reach stores in the middle of the year. But June arrived and Huawei, in full crisis with the US government, showed no signs of life.

Today, the folding of the Chinese company has no definitive release date, but there are rumors that September will also be the month chosen by Huawei. According to several media points based on a leak from the company itself, the Mate X will share an event with the new Mate 30 Pro that the Chinese will present on September 19. That day the definitive date for the Chinese folding could be known.

The second part

This week the Let's Go Digital media said that Samsung is already working on the Galaxy Fold 2, the second version of its foldable phone that the first one does not sell yet. Sometimes, technology advances so fast that it may seem accelerated.
