Sohn Hye-won, accused of suspected Mokpo real estate speculation, attended the Seoul Southern District Court on Monday, saying, "I believe the Korean judiciary will reveal the truth."

Sohn was on trial for the first time in seven months after the allegations were raised.

Sohn said he would later answer the allegations that he had used the secrets of government to dump property.

He also denied allegations that he had bought a property under his nephew's name.

In this trial, whether the lawmaker bought local real estate based on Mokpo City's security data or whether the nephew-run guesthouse Chang Gong is the real estate of Mr. Sohn is expected to be a key issue.
