The Funeral Services of Madrid offer different free thematic walks through the Almudena Cemetery until November
Do you dare to take a night tour of the Civil Cemetery of Madrid? Or it may be that you have a lot of interest in the characters that are buried , such as three presidents of the First Republic, socialist and communist leaders, intellectuals, artists ... Under reservations on the web, the Funeral Services of Madrid organize different free thematic visits to the Cemetery of La Almudena to satisfy any restlessness or curiosity that one may have for the morbidity.
NIGHT WALK
On this tour, visitors will enter the Civil Cemetery of the Almudena Cemetery Necropolis and walk through the graves in the quiet and dark of the night . During the tour and involved in thematic music and dynamic theatrical performances , participants will learn about the history of the cemetery, its relationship with Madrid and its most emblematic characters.

HISTORICAL TOUR
The Nuestra Señora de la Almudena Cemetery is full of legends, culture, traditions ... And the more than 120 hectares of its Necropolis hide these stories. In this visit, participants will learn about the more than 130 years of history that collect the life and death of anonymous people and illustrious characters. You can also see the three parts that make up the set: the Civil Cemetery, the Hebrew and the oldest part, the Cemetery of Epidemics, with graves since the end of the 19th century.

Different characters rest in the tombs of La Almudena Cemetery. Writers, painters, architects, actors, politicians, footballers ... And even a survivor of the wreck of the Titanic . The tour is divided into two parts and if you wish, you can participate in Illustrious Characters II .

Designed by architects Fernando Arbós and Tremanti and José Urioste, the original Necropolis project influenced the funeral architecture of other European cemeteries, modernist currents and the revival of its time . The Cemetery of Our Lady of the Almudena has set various scenes of Spanish cinema films and series.
