The Gyeonggi Anseong Police Station said it received a result from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation that a component of azobisisobutyronitriline was detected in a sample taken from the logistics warehouse of Anseong, Gyeonggi, which killed 11 people, including firefighters, due to the fire explosion.

Azobisisobutyronitriline is classified as a 'self-reactive substance' that is highly susceptible to explosion because it is sensitive to impact and friction and can cause adverse reactions even if there is no ignition source and the ambient temperature is over 40 ℃.

If you store more than the designated quantity (200 ㎏), you must report it to your fire department.

However, according to the fire authorities, no complaints have been received.

Those who have stored or handled dangerous goods more than the amount specified under the current law are subject to imprisonment of up to three years or fines of up to 30 million won according to the Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act.

Immediately after the fire, the police secured a statement saying that they were storing about 3.4 tons of azobisisobutyronitriline on the ground floor.
