On the east coast of Gangwon, where the water temperature is relatively low, most beaches were closed at the end of last weekend. However, some of the vacationers who have left for a little later are still coming in, and there are no lifeguards and the risk of accidents is higher than usual.

This is a report from Cho.

The hangers on the tubes float in the middle of the sea.

After being swept away into the ocean by the waves and rescued safely by guards and crews from the nearby police station, it almost resulted in death.

In one day, 11 people were distressed in three places, including Gangneung Gyeongpo and the East Sea Chuam.

All of these beaches have been closed since last Sunday.

Samcheok's beach has been visited by hundreds of visitors since its closing on the 18th.

However, there are no lifeguards, so it is difficult to respond quickly if an accident occurs.

[Respondent: I never cared about that (there are no safety guards). I never thought it was dangerous in itself. You know how to play safely. .]

Some municipalities continue to deploy safety personnel to closed beaches for some time, but they are far shorter than when they operate.

Gyeongpo Beach has reduced to 70 security personnel, and Samcheok plans to deploy only 8 lifeguards in 8 places, with 81 people in 15 places.

[Community beach manager: People usually come a lot on weekends, so there is a high risk of accidents, so we try to deploy it on a limited budget. .]

Since 2016, 62 people have been rescued and 4 people have been killed in a safety accident following the closing of the beach on the east coast of Gangwon.
