Technology companies are increasingly struggling to keep their secrets and Samsung is no exception. From Note 10, officially announced today at an event at Barclays Center in New York, many details were already known, including the decision - for the first time - to launch two versions of the device with two different screen sizes.

The new Galaxy Note 10, which in Pixel we have already had in hand, will have 6.3 inches of screen but there will also be a "Plus" version with 6.8 inches of screen, an additional camera sensor and more RAM. Neither of them, by the way, has a traditional headphone connection. It has disappeared to leave more space for the battery.

In a way it is the expected successor of a range of phones to which time has proved right. When the original Galaxy Note was introduced in autumn 2011, its huge (for the time) 5.3-inch screen and the inclusion of a pointer to score by hand seemed to condemn the terminal to a very specific and small universe of customers.

Over the years, on the other hand, the rest of mobiles have ended up looking like dimensions and although the use of digital pointers is not so common, it has also become a feature in some competing models.

Meanwhile, Samsung has evolved the terminal, which competes in the high-end of its catalog with the Galaxy S models, towards a phone focused on professional users, a device halfway between the mobile and the tablet that allows you to write down freehand and write naturally and equipped with several services clearly oriented to productivity.

One of the features to which Samsung dedicated more time during the presentation, in fact, have been the new DeX options, the mode of operation that allows the phone to display an interface similar to that of a conventional PC when connected to a monitor , a keyboard and a mouse.

These functions have been expanded in Note 10, adding the possibility of connecting the phone directly to a conventional laptop or PC using a USB-C cables and viewing the notifications and applications of the phone on the Windows or Mac desktop.

The integration is especially optimized in the case of Windows, thanks to an agreement between Microsoft and the Korean company. The app also allows you to transfer files between the device and the computer intuitively, dragging the files with the mouse.

Samsung has also added several new uses to the digital pointer, the S-Pen, which can now be used for example to remotely control many more camera functions, including the zoom level, or draw on faces in a video to create Augmented reality masks. In the plus model, a volumetric camera allows you to scan 3D objects and transform them into an animated model on the phone screen.

With these new features and a feature sheet with some surprises, such as the possibility of equipping the phone with up to 12 GB of RAM, Samsung's attention has begun to divert from the device itself, to the ecosystem of services and accessories that the Company has built in recent years.

Although it was officially announced a few days earlier, Samsung also dedicated time on stage to the Galaxy Watch Active 2, its latest smartwatch, the Virtual Bixby assistant (Available in Spanish since late 2018) or the Galaxy Buds wireless headphones. "Samsung is in a unique position to offer a whole ecosystem of products and services that complement the best devices," said DJ Koh, president of Samsung Electronics, during the presentation.

The phones will go on sale next August 23 and in some territories Samsung will accompany them with a new laptop the Galaxy Book. This is a superlight computer built with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, similar to that used by phones, with 23 hours of autonomy and equipped with the Windows 10 operating system.

The computer somewhat condenses the agreement reached by Microsoft and Samsung and that in addition to greater integration of services and devices will also have a commercial aspect. The Note 10, for the first time, can be booked at Microsoft stores. Satya Nadella, president of Microsoft, promised on the stage more scenarios of collaboration in the future for both brands.
