Two men "were indicted for extortion with violence resulting in death" after the death of a 57-year-old artisan-merchant near his company in Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault, Ille-et- Vilaine, AFP learned Monday from the prosecution. The two men were remanded in custody, the same source added, without specifying the facts.

Wednesday around 19:30, a craftsman-merchant who held a motorcycle shop in this small town of Ille-et-Vilaine an hour north of Rennes, had been killed by stabbing. The two suspects, aged 48 and 57, arrested Thursday, live near Fougères, in Ille-et-Vilaine, for one and Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault for the other. The latter "is already known to the correctional justice for theft and aggravated acts of violence," the source said.
