Warmth, dehydration: the heat wave brings its share of health risks, avoidable thanks to some apps that monitor your health.

The heat wave falls on France. For a week, a heat wave unprecedented by its precocity will suffocate everyone. Between the temperatures that touch or sometimes exceed 40 degrees and humidity that reinforces the sensation of suffocation, the least exit is perilous. One eye on the weather, the other on the UV

The first reflex to have before going out is obviously to consult your weather app, to anticipate hot shots. Whether pre-installed on the phone, or one that you downloaded in addition, the weather applications are very comprehensive and usually quite accurate. Pay particular attention to the temperatures felt, which can be much higher in hot weather.

But it's not just the heat that's dangerous. Also beware of the hot sun! UV rays are extremely harmful to health. To find them, SunRisk, an app designed by the National Union of Dermatologists and Météo France that tells you very simply the level of radiation where you are. The scale, which ranges from 1 to 16 (in case of hot weather, we are between 7 and 11), is explained clearly to know the effects of UV on our skin. You can also find the basic tips to protect yourself from the sun.

Monitor your water consumption

This is essential: in times of high heat, you should hydrate more than usual, even to force yourself. The app "My balance in water" ensures a monitoring of your daily water consumption. It's very simple, you fill in your weight, your height and the app defines the amount of water you need to drink (you can adjust it manually too). And afterwards, you hand-fill every drop you drink. Each glass or cup comes to feed a meter that allows you to see at a glance where you are. Depending on your progress, you may also receive notifications.

The basic version is free and provides information on water, tea and coffee consumption. There are plenty of others, like fruit juice or beer, but only in the paid version (5.49 euros). Remember to indicate each drink consumed and its amount requires a little effort but it may be worth it to stick for three days, to avoid dehydration.

Water yes, but where?

If you ever get hot and you do not have water on hand, you have to find some. With this in mind, the City of Paris created last year the app Extrema Paris. It lists all the water points or refreshments of the capital on a map. Water fountains, pond in green spaces, foggers, public places with access to a tap: there is everything in this app.

Extrema Paris locates you and tells you which is the nearest water point and the time needed to get there on foot. And if it's too far, do not hesitate to go to a coffee shop. You will never be denied a free glass of water during a heat wave.
