Opel has now officially presented the sixth generation of the Corsa, after the first photos had already appeared online earlier this week. The brand also releases the specifications of the model.

The 136 hp Corsa-e, as the new electric car from Opel is called, comes about 330 kilometers far on a battery charge, according to the manufacturer.

This means that the Corsa-e has a slightly smaller driving range than the sister model of Peugeot. The e-208 is according to the French namely 340 kilometers far, despite being subcutaneously the same.

The electric Corsa can be recharged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes, reports Opel. The car can be set in three positions, namely Normal, Eco or Sport. In the latter position, the powertrain responds more quickly to driver input, while the Eco position is aimed at getting as far as possible. The Corsa-e accelerates in 2.8 counts to 50 and in 8.2 seconds to 100 kilometers per hour.

Electric Corsa to be the first to order

Opel mounts a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system inside. The upgraded version uses a 10-inch touch screen. In addition, the Corsa-e has digital counters.

The electric Corsa also comes with a large number of safety systems, including traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and blind spot recognition.

The order books for the new Corsa-e will open in "a few weeks", after which the versions with gasoline and diesel engines can also be ordered at a later stage.
