The body of one of the two kayakers missing in Haute-Savoie was found, said Wednesday afternoon the Gendarmerie Annecy, while searches to find the second were suspended because of the weather.

The body was discovered in the late morning in the river Cheran by a walker, at Héry-sur-Alby, said the gendarmerie, confirming information Dauphine Libere . This place is a little downstream of where the two-man kayak of the two men, aged 44 and 54, from the region and members of the same family was found on Monday.

Suspended searches

They had planned to descend the Cheran six kilometers Monday morning. Around 18h, their family worried not to see them back had warned the rescue. The search for the second kayaker was interrupted in the middle of the afternoon Wednesday, until Thursday, because of a weather alert. Isère was placed in orange alert due to the risk of high winds, like three other departments in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
