Today, 14 people were injured when a KTX train bounced off a railroad in Gangneung, Gangwon Province on the morning of the 8th. I had to start and go in five minutes, so I had to speed up more than 200km per hour. I have arranged the accident situation first.

I am a reporter.

KTX trains are laid on a railroad track with a T-shape.

The front locomotive and one carriage were turned 90 degrees to the left and hit the other side of the railroad.

The remaining 8 carriages left the track and leaned to the left.

The KTX train departed from Gangneung Station at 7:30 am and departed for Seoul in 5 minutes.

[Passengers at the time of the accident] Come on. Injured! Injured!]

Passengers reported that the car tilted to one side and felt several shocks.

[Lee Min-Sup / passenger of the accident train: Suddenly the car rumbled and the smoke ran like crazy. At first I thought it was foggy. But the car stopped and it was tilted to one side.]

Fourteen out of 198 passengers were taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and all returned home.

Because the accident spot is near the bifurcation point and it is entering the curve section, the trains were only half of the maximum speed, and the damage was less.

[Myeong-Sook Lee / Passenger of the accident train: It was not Abigailan, and it seemed to be calmly exhausted. I'm glad you did not have a lot of bleeding or accidents ... .]

Other passengers went to Jungbu Station by emergency bus, then took another KTX train to Seoul or returned to Gangneung.

But if the train was pushed a little further, it could have rolled down to a lower level than the railroad, possibly owing to a major disaster.

In addition, trains from Jindu to Gangneung Station are stopped completely, and users are suffering from a great inconvenience.

The KTX Gangneung Line, which opened on December 22 last year, was the first big accident a few days before the first year of operation.
