The vice chairman of the Orion Group, Lee Hwa-kyung, has been investigated by the prosecution for suspicion of embezzlement in the construction of the cottage.

The Special Investigation Department of the National Police Agency has turned this vice-chairman into a prosecution opinion for alleged violation of laws related to specific economic crime punishment.

The vice chairman is accused of using construction costs of about 20.3 billion won in corporate funds during the construction of a private villa in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, from 2008 to 2014.

During the investigation, the vice president denied accusations of building the building for galleries, guesthouses, training centers and other purposes.

Police confirmed that the building is a typical private villa, not used for corporate purposes, and that the vice president has spent billions of dollars in furniture.

Police said all the construction processes, including site selection, architectural design, and material selection, were led by the vice president.

The police filed a warrant for the deputy chairman on the last day, but the prosecution denied the warrant the police had applied for.

The police did not reissue the arrest warrant, but handed the vice president to the prosecution in a state of non-detention and concluded the investigation.

A police official said, "We sent a prosecution opinion based on the collective judgment of the case of the ruling Orion Group chairman Chul Cheol-gon similar to this case."

The deputy president's husband, Bhang, was arrested on suspicion of embezzling about 30 billion won worth of money in 2011, was handed over to the trial, and was sentenced to probation by the Supreme Court.
