Manchester City has - at least temporarily - pushed to the top of the Premier League. Thanks to a 1-0 (1-0) win against Tottenham Hotspur, the team of Pep Guardiola is the championship leader in England (86 points). However, Liverpool (currently 85 points) can overtake the Manchester team with a victory in Cardiff on Sunday.

Manchester City and Tottenham had already played against each other on Wednesday in the Champions League. In a dramatic game Tottenham had prevailed in the quarter-final second leg despite a 3: 4 defeat and pulled into the semifinals - since the Spurs had won the first leg in the previous week 1-0.

Also on Saturday it started quickly: Heung-Min Son had already in the third minute, the first chance for Tottenham. The first goal fell on the other side: A cross in front of the goal put Sergio Agüero head across to Phil Foden. And the 18-year-old was able to reach his first league goal without pressure - also with his head (5.).

Kyle Walker saves by hand

Tottenham had a good chance of equalizing with Christian Eriksen, whose shot Ederson was able to parry (14), and again Son, who won a dribbling against three opponents and also failed at the City goalkeeper (44). Manchester lost in the 38th minute Kevin de Bruyne, who had to be replaced injured.

Both teams were also lucky with their refereeing decisions: in the first half, Jan Vertonghen Bernardo Silva pulled his legs away from behind in the penalty area - there was no penalty. In half two, Kyle Walker prevented Tottenham's Dele from scoring a goal by tapping the ball with his arm.

City could have relegated the second goal in the 70th minute. Substitute German international Leroy Sané put the ball across Raheem Sterling. The attacker failed, however, to Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. On the other hand, Ederson rescued Lucas Moura.
