Spain started with a victory in the European Championship qualification. In the 2-1 (1-0) victory against Norway, the European champion from 2008 and 2012 but had more problems than he would have loved. After Norway's Joshua King equalized Rodrigo Moreno's opening goal (16 minutes) (65 '), Sergio Ramos scored the winning goal (71').

Captain Ramos meets for the fifth time in a row in a game for the national team. Most recently he had met against England and Croatia in the Nations League. As a central defender Ramos is dangerous by his headball strength, especially in standard situations. The goal against Norway was the 18th in his international career.

But against Norway he met from the penalty spot. After Bundesliga goalkeeper Rune Jarstein of Hertha BSC fouled the opposing striker Alvaro Morata in the penalty area, Ramos lifted the ball in the middle of the goal. "Panenka" is called such a penalty, named after the Czech footballer Antonín Panenka.

King also hit a penalty before. Unlike Ramos, the Norwegian shot the ball into the right corner. Goalkeeper David De Gea had no chance. Although Spain missed promising opportunities for a preliminary decision, Norway was no longer able to equalize.
