Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo lost his nerve in the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup on Monday and was sent off for elbowing his opponent.

The Portuguese record goalscorer was shown a red card four minutes before the end because he elbowed an opponent in the chest, as the TV footage clearly shows.

Ronaldo was recently suspended for a game after he was taunted by fans shouting “Messi” and responded with a hand gesture in his groin area.

Ronaldo's team Al-Nassr lost the game 1:2 against city rivals Al-Hilal. Jorge Jesus' Al-Hilal in the 62nd minute and Brazilian striker Malcolm (72nd) had put Al-Hilal in the lead. Former Bayern striker Sadio Mané scored the next goal for Al-Nassr.

Al-Hilal will face Karim Benzema's team Al-Ittihad, who beat Al-Wehda 2-1 in the semi-final on Monday, in Thursday's final.
