At the start of the 28th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, Hertha BSC won 3:2 (1:1) at SC Paderborn. Paderborn took the lead twice through Raphael Obermair (16th minute) and Visar Musliu (59th). Aymen Barkok (17th) and Bilal Hussein (84th) equalized for Hertha. Haris Tabaković (90th) scored shortly before the final whistle for a celebrated victory - and kept the slim hope of promotion alive with the second win in the last six games.

In the table, Berlin moved up to sixth place, at least temporarily, and reduced the gap to third place to five points. The Paderborn team is currently ninth. In the second Friday evening game, Hansa Rostock won 3-1 (0-0) at SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Calvin Brackelmann put the first exclamation mark after a strong initial phase from Paderborn, his free kick landed on the crossbar (11th). Obermair, on the other hand, aimed a little more accurately and sent the ball delicately into the goal. A little later, however, Barkok was the beneficiary of a major mistake by the Paderborn defense. Shortly after the break, Hertha defender Jonjoe Kenny made a desperate save on the line (47'). Musliu then headed in from a corner before Hussein and Tabaković hit back late.

Dárdai defends his PK exit

Before the game, Hertha coach Pál Dárdai defended his early departure at the press conference on Wednesday. “I would do it the same way tomorrow and the day after,” said the 48-year-old on Sky. »I don't talk to people who spread untruths. That's how I grew up. If someone writes that Hertha has no concept, then that is insulting.

Dárdai refused to answer a journalist's question on Thursday. When he asked again, Dárdai left the room. The journalist had reported critically on Hertha's development under Dárdai. According to media reports, Dárdai's future should be open beyond the summer. Berlin's sports director Benjamin Weber confirmed that there was a conversation with Dárdai after the incident.
