FIFA (International Federation of Football Associations) has announced the referees who will be in charge of the Paris Olympics, and three people have been selected from Japan, including Yoshimi Yamashita, following on from the previous Tokyo Games.

On the 3rd, FIFA announced a total of 89 referees who will be in charge of the Paris Olympics, including the main referee, assistant referees, and VAR (video assistant referee).



From Japan, Yoshimi Yamashita was selected as the main referee, and Makoto Bozono and Naomi Teshirogi were selected as assistant referees.

The three have served as referees at many international tournaments, including the last Tokyo Games and last year's Women's World Cup.



FIFA says the Paris Olympics will be an important step for the selected referees, following the 2026 Men's World Cup and 2027 Women's World Cup.



The soccer competition for the Paris Olympics will be played by 16 men's teams and 12 women's teams, with Japan's women's team Nadeshiko Japan, which has already qualified, competing in the qualifying league against Spain, which won last year's World Cup. It has been decided that they will play against Japan and Brazil.



On the other hand, for the men's side, Japan's under-23 team will compete in the final Asian qualifying round to be held in Qatar this month to compete for the right to participate in the Olympics.If they finish in the top three, they will earn the right to compete, and if they come in fourth, they will compete against Guinea in Africa. will go to the playoffs.
