It has been decided that the match between the Japanese national team and the Syrian national team in the second round of the Soccer World Cup Asian qualifiers scheduled for June 11th will be held at a new soccer stadium that opened in Hiroshima this February.

The Japan Football Association has announced that their home match against Syria in the World Cup Asia 2nd round qualifying round, scheduled for June 11th, will be played at the Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima, a soccer-only stadium in Hiroshima City.

In the second Asian qualifying round, where four teams play home and away, the Japanese national team has already secured a place in the final qualifying round with four wins in four games, with the match against North Korea on March 26th being a forfeited match.

Japan will play away against Myanmar on June 6th, and the match against Syria on June 11th will be the final match of the second qualifying round.

This will be the first time that a match for the Japanese national team will be held at Hiroshima's new stadium.

In Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan's under-22 national team, led by coach Moriyasu, played a warm-up match in 2019, but the last time the Japanese national team, which has no age limit, played in Hiroshima was in July 2004 when coach Zico was in charge. It has been 20 years since the team played against the Slovakian national team at Hiroshima Big Arch in 2017.
