Fengtai County is located in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River and on the southern edge of the Huaibei Plain. It was called Zhoulai and Xiacai in ancient times. With coal and electricity as its pillar industry, Fengtai County is the largest county in deep coal mining in the country. It has been awarded the title of National Advanced County for Scientific and Technological Progress, National Advanced County for Grain Production, National Advanced County for Water Conservancy, and the Hometown of Chinese Folk Art Flower Drum Deng. The Fengtai Police Camp Marathon started as the "Golden July" marathon event in 2012 and will be held for the ninth time this year. In 2018, it was successfully registered with the Chinese Athletics Association as an international large-scale marathon Class A event. In 2019, it was certified as a bronze medal event by the Chinese Athletics Association. The 2024 Fengtai Police Camp Marathon has three events: half marathon (21.0975 kilometers), safety run (10 kilometers), and happy run (3 kilometers).
