Victor Wembanyama continues to break records in the NBA. In the game against the New York Knicks, the 20-year-old Frenchman scored 40 points and grabbed 20 rebounds. The last time a league newcomer scored at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a game was more than 30 years ago. Shaquille O'Neal even had 46 points and 21 rebounds in 1993. Thanks also to Wembanyama's strong performance, the San Antonio Spurs won 130:126 after extra time. The Knicks weren't even enough for 61 points from their builder Jalen Brunson.

The German-American center Isaiah Hartenstein, who plays for the Knicks, praised Wembanyama highly after the game, according to the Spox portal. »He will become one of the best players of all time. I have a lot of respect for him because it's so difficult to get a shot off against him." "I'm on the right track, I know that," said Wembanyama himself.

Despite the win, the Spurs remain last in the Western Conference and will clearly miss the playoffs.

Wagner's lose

The German basketball star Dennis Schröder kept the Brooklyn Nets' small playoff chances alive with a three-point festival. In the 125:108 win against the Chicago Bulls, the Nets scored 18 times from distance in the second half.

Schröder (27 points) had seven three-pointers at the Barclays Center, as did Mikal Bridges (28). Despite their third win in a row, the Nets still have a lot of ground to make up in the fight for the playoffs. After all, five of the next six games will take place in our own hall.

Meanwhile, Franz (13 points) and Moritz Wagner (12) lost with the Orlando Magic 97:100 against the Los Angeles Clippers, where world champion colleague Daniel Theis did not play. The Magic are still in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and still have every opportunity.

Maxi Kleber contributed six points to his Dallas Mavericks' 107:103 win in Sacramento. The Mavericks are one of the strongest teams in the West and are heading for the playoffs.
