The VfL Wolfsburg footballers are playing for their tenth DFB Cup triumph in a row. Coach Tommy Stroot's team outclassed SGS Essen 9:0 (3:0) in the semi-finals. Even without the injured national players Alexandra Popp, Marina Hegering and Lena Lattwein, Wolfsburg remained unbeaten in their 49th cup game in a row across the season.

The goals were scored by Jule Brand (14th minute), Ewa Pajor (16th), Vivien Endemann (37th/51st/82nd), Dominique Janssen (66th), Riola Xhemaili (83rd) and Svenja Huth (89th). ) against the sixth in the table and the only all-women's football club in the league. Emely Joester (70th) also scored an own goal.

In the final on May 9th in Cologne, they will face the winner between the Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt, who will compete against each other on Sunday (3:45 p.m., TV: ARD and Sky).

"That's very blatant," said VfL captain Svenja Huth on Sky: "We wanted to show a reaction on the pitch today, that's what we did." Stroot was also very satisfied: "That was very convincing, we never let anything burn until the last minute.”

A week after the bitter 4-0 defeat at home in the top league game against FC Bayern, Wolfsburg left nothing to be desired. After a short initial phase, the she-wolves dominated the game. After the quick double pack from Brand with a header and Pajor, Endemann increased the lead to 3-0 before the break. Essen never had anything to counter the Wolfsburg team and made too many mistakes.

The VfL women, who last lost a cup game against 1. FFC Frankfurt in November 2013, are preserving their last chance for the title this season by reaching the final: they missed the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In the championship they are seven points practically unassailable behind Munich. "I know that Bayern normally don't lose seven points anymore," said VfL coach Stroot.
