The international race "Formula E", also known as F1 for electric cars, was held in Tokyo for the first time in Japan on the 30th.

"Formula E" is an international race for electric cars that emit no exhaust gas while running, also known as F1, and has been held in major cities around the world such as Rome and New York.

In Japan, it was held for the first time on the 30th in Koto Ward, Tokyo, with 22 cars from 11 teams, including domestic manufacturers, participating.

The race began around 3:00 pm on a course that included 2.585 km of public roads surrounding Tokyo Big Sight, and visitors at the public viewing venue enjoyed the speed of electric cars.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government hopes that this competition will support the spread of "Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs)" such as electric cars and fuel cell vehicles that do not emit carbon dioxide when driving, and there will be more than 100 vehicles at the venue. ZEV was on display.

A man in his 40s who visited said, ``It was my first competition in Japan, so I had a lot of fun and excitement.I feel that electric cars are becoming more popular, so I would like to consider them as an option for future transportation.''

Prime Minister Kishida gave a speech at the opening ceremony, saying, ``This is Japan's first international race on public roads, with no carbon dioxide or engine noise.Today, the future and dreams will run through the streets of Tokyo at breakneck speed.
