China News Service, Beijing, March 27 (Xinhua) The press conference for the 19th "Gujing Tribute Cup" National Press Tennis Competition was held on the 27th in the press conference hall of the China Journalists Association. The organizers announced that this "Grand Slam" competition in the press will be held in Hefei and Bozhou, Anhui Province from May 23 to 28. Nearly 30 teams from news media across the country will participate in the competition.

  In 1996, Wan Boyao, then vice chairman of the China Sports Journalists Association, president and editor-in-chief of China Sports Magazine, and Jiang Ping, editor-in-chief of Zhejiang Daily, initiated and successfully held the first National Press Tennis Tournament. Today, this competition has developed into one of the most influential traditional sports events in the national press. The tournament has become a festival for tennis enthusiasts in the press to meet friends, compare skills and exchange experiences with the ball. It is a traditional event that many journalists regularly participate in.

  This competition has five events: men's singles, women's doubles and men's youth, middle-aged and veteran doubles. Wan Bo'ao, director of the event organizing committee, put forward three hopes for this competition at the press conference: First, he hopes that the Journalists Association, Tennis Association, society and enterprises will continue to support so that the event can continue; second, he hopes that the organizing committee will do a good job service and enhance the brand image; third, we hope that the players will perform well and show style, strengthen their physique and do a better job in journalism.
