The Japan Sumo Association decided on new positions for directors and masters at the board meeting held on the 27th, and Master Kasugano was appointed as the business manager, the number two position in the association.
The Japan Sumo Association held a board of directors meeting in Osaka on the 27th to decide on the duties of directors and masters for the next two years.
Former yokozuna Onokuni's Shibatayama Oyakata has been replaced by former Sekiwake Tochinowaka's Kasugano Oyakata as the association's number two business manager.
Former Sekiwake Kotonowaka Oyakata Sadogatake will serve as the public relations manager.
In addition, the three new directors include
: Former Ozeki Kaioh's Asakayama Master is appointed manager of the Kyushu tournament held in his hometown Fukuoka
; Former Sekiwake Takadagawa Oyakata of Akinoshima is appointed as referee manager; and
former makuuchi Kiyoshiki Master Katsunoura
was appointed as the director of crisis management and other positions.
Master Asakayama said, ``Even though it's a local area, I think there are some tough places. I want to do my best to promote the event and attract more people to visit.''
Master Takadagawa said, ``The sumo wrestlers are doing a good job of sumo, so I want the referees to be attentive and do their best.''
In addition, former ozeki Goeido's master Takekuma will be a member of the refereeing department.
