FC Barcelona won 3-0 (1-0) against Atlético Madrid in the Spanish football league.

The man of the match was former Bayern player Robert Lewandowski, who prepared the goals of João Félix (38th minute) and Fermín López (65th) and scored himself in between (47th).

In stoppage time, Atlético's Nahuel Molina was sent off the pitch because of an emergency stop (90+3), Barcelona coach Xavi had long since suffered this fate (42').

Because FC Girona had already lost in Getafe on Saturday, Barça climbed to second place in the table.

However, leaders Real Madrid are eight points ahead.

Atlético is currently fifth.

The first goal was initiated by national team captain İlkay Gündoğan, who served Lewandowski with a through ball in the penalty area.

The Pole put the ball across the middle, where Félix just had to push it in (38').

The attacker was loaned to Barcelona from Atlético in the summer.

Shortly afterwards, coach Xavi saw the yellow card and then the red card (43rd).

Apparently he was unhappy with the referee's decisions and complained vehemently.

After the break, Lewandowski increased the score with a shot from the turn that slammed into the goal from the far post (47').

López made the preliminary decision with his head, and Lewandowski was again involved as a cross provider (65th).

In stoppage time, Barça's Vitor Roque threatened to run towards the goal alone and was stopped by Molina.

The referee pulled out the red card (90.+2).

For Atlético it was the first home defeat in the league since January 2023.
