At the end of the 26th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga there was a goal-rich Sunday afternoon.

In Berlin, Hertha BSC won 5:2 (3:2) against Schalke 04, 1. FC Magdeburg conceded 0:7 (0:4) at Karlsruher SC.

Hamburger SV managed a 3-0 (1-0) win against Wehen Wiesbaden in their own stadium.

HSV became dangerous in the first minute with a double chance from Bakery Jatta, whose header was blocked.

The second attempt hit the post.

Robin Heußer missed Wiesbaden's only good opportunity (11th minute), otherwise Hamburg dominated the game.

Dennis Hadzikadunic almost headed the score 1-0, Wehen keeper Florian Stritzel just managed to direct the ball onto the crossbar (21'), and a push against Sebastian Schonlau wasn't enough for referee Bastian Dankert to award a penalty (23').

Then Miro Muheim tried from a distance and was lucky that his shot was deflected into the far corner (33').

HSV remained stronger in the lead, Immanuel Pherai failed to hit the post after Robert Glatzel's preparatory work (40').

The 2-0 only came with a cunning free kick from Laszlo Benes, who pushed the ball under the wall into the goal from around 17 meters (51').

Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer got the final score after an assist from Benes (85th).

The victory brought HSV back to third place.

The gap to the direct promotion places is five points.

Wiesbaden is in a relegation battle, Wehen is in 13th place with 31 points.

In the first round it went wildly back and forth, but the Berliners cheered first.

Jeremy Dudziak fumbled his way to the left and played across the middle.

Tomas Kalas wanted to intervene there, but directed the ball through his own goalkeeper's legs and onto the post.

Haris Tabakovic was right on the rebound (2nd).

Just three minutes later, Simon Terodde was the winner and the score was tied again (5th).

But then Fabian Reese left two Schalke players standing on the left and set up Tabakovic to make it 2-1 (13th).

Because Hertha Kenan Karaman didn't attack properly in the penalty area, he was able to set up Terodde for his second goal - again it was a draw (27th).

The game calmed down a bit, at least for the time being only one team scored.

After winning the ball in Schalke's half, Tabakovic set up Marten Winkler to make it 3-2 (39'), who extended Hertha's lead with a header after the half-time break (51').

Florian Niederlechner's goal to make it 5-2 (75th) sealed Schalke's 14th defeat of the season, which means they remain in 14th place - two points ahead of the relegation place.

Hertha can breathe a sigh of relief, 37 points are currently enough for ninth place.

Karlsruhe opened the dismantling of the guests with a standard: Marcel Franke headed a free-kick cross into the goal at the second post (8th).

This was followed by incredible mistakes in Magdeburg's build-up play, first by Daniel Heber, who misused a ball in his own penalty area.

Budu Zivzivadze used the gift to make it 2-0 (13th).

The Georgian also benefited from Magdeburg's second mistake.

Goalkeeper Dominik Reimann played to Daniel Elfadli, even though this teammate was blocked.

The ball was lost, Zivzivadze scored again (25th).

The game was already decided by Paul Nebel's goal after a counterattack (40').

Things got even worse for Magdeburg after the break, when Marcel Beifus scooped up a ball that bounced off the crossbar to make it 5-0 (50') and immediately afterwards Magdeburg suffered another serious loss of the ball in front of their own goal, so that Igor Matanovic even scored the sixth with a lob KSC goal scored (51st).

Marvin Wanitzek scored the final score with a hand penalty (90+1).

Due to the bankruptcy, things are slowly getting tight for Magdeburg, which is currently in twelfth place.

But there is only a four point gap between us and 16th place.

The KSC, on the other hand, jumps to seventh place.
