China News Service, Taipei, March 16 (Reporter Yang Chengchen) Taiwan's professional baseball game "started" for the first time on the 16th at the Taipei Arena.

According to official statistics from the event, the game attracted about 19,900 people to watch the game.

Taipei Arena is Taiwan's largest indoor sports venue located in Xinyi District (the top of the venue can be opened and closed). It is mainly used for hosting baseball events and concerts.

From planning to official opening, the venue took more than 20 years. During the process, the construction project was delayed many times due to controversial incidents such as contractor fraud, safety hazards, and doubtful environmental impact assessments.

In October 2023, Taipei City approved the relevant use license for the Arena.

In early December, the Asian Baseball Championship was held in Taiwan and the Dome was put into use.

Recently, the Taipei Arena, which Taiwan fans have been waiting for for a long time, has hosted consecutive baseball games.

The picture shows that on the evening of March 3, Taiwan's Rakuten Peach Baseball Team faced Japan's Yomiuri Giants at this venue, attracting more than 30,000 spectators.

In February this year, the Taiwan Professional Baseball League announced that the warm-up games would start at the Dome.

On the evening of March 16, the maximum number of open seats for the first warm-up match was 20,000, and the final number of people entering the stadium reached 19,898.

The two-day warm-up match is expected to attract nearly 35,000 visitors.

According to reports, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Taiwan Professional Baseball League.

The Taipei Arena is considered to be the biggest draw for attracting spectators this year.

The opening game will be held at the Dome on March 30, against last season's championship Wei Chuan Dragons and Lotte Momons.

In the new season, the league arranges 30 regular season games to be played at this venue.

On March 2 this year, Taiwan’s CITIC Brothers Baseball Team faced Japan’s Yomiuri Giants at the Taipei Arena, attracting 37,900 spectators, setting a new record for the number of spectators in a Taiwanese baseball game.
