The German national soccer player Sydney Lohmann has extended her contract with FC Bayern Munich by two years.

This means that the midfielder is tied to the German champions until June 2026, as the club announced after the 5-0 win at newly promoted RB Leipzig.

»FC Bayern is home for me.

I feel very connected to the club, it was a decision of the heart," said the 23-year-old in the statement.

Lohmann joined Bayern's B youth team in 2016.

“I made a lot of friends here, my family is not far from Munich, and I knew that I wanted to continue to be a part of this,” she explained.

Lohmann had other options

»Sydney's contract extension is very important for us,« said department head Bianca Rech. »Sydney has a lot of energy and is a very fast and dynamic player.

She can create special moments on the pitch and is able to inspire an entire team with her style of playing football.”

After Lena Oberdorf, who is moving from VfL Wolfsburg to Munich in the summer, the Bundesliga has another source of hope.

There was recently speculation that the vice-European champion would move abroad.

Coach Alexander Straus admitted that Lohmann's stay in Bavaria was not guaranteed.

"Sydney had a few other options, but she loves the club, the city and the team," said the Norwegian.

“There is deep mutual trust between you and FC Bayern.”

Lohmann has already played 135 competitive games for the FC Bayern professional team and has 29 goals and 25 assists.

In the senior national team she has made 28 appearances (four goals, two assists).

She mostly plays in central midfield with a more attacking role.
