With four players, VfB Stuttgart has the second largest contingent of all clubs in Julian Nagelsmann's DFB squad - and TSG Hoffenheim showed why: Stuttgart's 3-0 (2-0) away win was the reward for an outstanding team performance .

Two assists from Deniz Undav were used by Enzo Millot (16th minute) and Serhou Guirassy (45th+1) to take the lead at the break, before Jamie Leweling, who came on for Undav, scored the final score (68th).

VfB started the game with a lot of possession and even more enthusiasm.

Undav narrowly missed a first chance (7th), TSG keeper Oliver Baumann was in charge against Millot (11th) and Hiroki Itō (12th).

Stuttgart's best combination to date gave them the lead: Chris Führich created space by dribbling, Guirassy held the ball under pressure 20 meters in front of the goal and found Undav, whose through pass fell perfectly into the path of Millot, who had run through into the penalty area.

The Frenchman finished safely (16th).

And coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team didn't take their foot off the gas: Undav wrestled the next save from Baumann (23rd), Millot fooled Tim Drexler with a fine dribble and narrowly missed from a tight angle (24th).

Guirassy put the ball centimeters wide of the outside post from an offside position (26').

The 2-0 was announced - and then fell shortly before the break: Undav prepared again, Guirassy processed his pass into the penalty area well.

With a powerful shot into the near corner, the VfB top scorer scored his 22nd goal of the season (45th + 1), only two goals shy of Mario Gomez's VfB record.

After the break, Hoffenheim played better at times, but VfB still had the chances.

Führich was denied by Baumann from a tight angle (49'), and after Führich's preparatory work, Undav's outside instep also failed at the TSG goalkeeper (63').

Guirassy set up Millot with a backheel pass, whose shot was deflected over the goal (65').

A little later, Guirassy tried it again himself, Baumann defended for a corner (68') - and it made it 3-0 because substitute Leweling had no opponent at the second post and scored with a low shot (68').

Andrej Kramarić hit the crossbar with Hoffenheim's best opportunity (74').

With 56 points, VfB remains in third place and is confidently on course to qualify for the Champions League.

Hoffenheim has to let FC Augsburg pass in the fight for the European places and slips to eighth place.
