Cameroon's football association has excluded 52 players from the playoffs of the top national league due to registration irregularities.

As the French broadcaster RMC and Cameroonian media report, the footballers are said to have given false age information.

Among the players, Wilfried Nathan Douala is said to have been a member of the Cameroonian squad for the recently completed Africa Cup of Nations.

The supposedly 17-year-old has not yet commented on the allegations.

Douala and another 51 players are said to have been suspended, according to the AP news agency.

Remarkable: 13 players were affected by the “Young Sports Academy” club.

On Sunday, the association published squad lists of the teams taking part in the playoffs starting on Friday - the players affected were marked in red because of "dual identity".

In the past, there have been some spectacular suspicions regarding players from Africa or with African roots.

In Germany, these affected, among others, Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko, Bakery Jatta from HSV and former Frankfurt professional Anthony Yeboah.
