At the world boxing qualifying round for the Paris Olympics held in Italy, Japan failed to qualify for all eight weight classes of men and women who participated.

The world boxing qualifying rounds for the Paris Olympics were held in Italy from the beginning of this month, with athletes from Japan competing in eight weight classes, including men and women who have not yet qualified.

Of these, two men's light welterweight Shion Nishiyama and women's light flyweight Suzuka Kinoshita survived until the final day on the 11th, and both competed in the quarterfinals to qualify.

Nishiyama lost the initiative in the middle of the match against Tajikistan, who won the bronze medal at last year's World Championships, and lost in a narrow 2-3 decision.

Kinoshita, who has experience winning international tournaments, also lost a 4-1 decision to a player from Uzbekistan.

As a result, Japan was unable to qualify in any of the weight classes in which it competed.

The eight athletes will once again aim to qualify for the Paris Olympics at the final world qualifiers, which will be held in Thailand from late May this year.

Meanwhile, two Japanese athletes have so far been selected to represent the Paris Olympics: light-middleweight Seon Okazawa and featherweight Shudai Harada.
