In the top game of the Premier League, Liverpool FC and Manchester City played 1:1 (0:1).

At Anfield Road in Liverpool, John Stones put the guests in front (23rd minute), Alexis Mac Allister scored the equalizer with a penalty kick (50th).

It was the last Premier League game between City coach Pep Guardiola and the outgoing Jürgen Klopp.

The winner would have become league leaders, but the draw means Arsenal are now in first place.

Liverpool are right behind on points, with Man City one point less.

With the game playing at a fast pace, the guests got into the game better, Caoimhin Kelleher punched away an early long-range shot from Kevin De Bruyne (8th).

The goalkeeper was just one of several substitutes who started for Liverpool as regulars such as Alisson, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold were struck or injured.

After about a quarter of an hour the Reds got better, Darwin Núñez was only half a step short of a sharp cross from Conor Bradley (13th), shortly afterwards Liverpool celebrated a supposed goal from Luis Díaz.

However, preparer Núñez was offside (19th).

In this period of urgency for Liverpool, a stroke of genius from De Bruyne gave City the lead: at a corner, the Reds players started to fight in the air, but the ball came flat from De Bruyne to the first post, where Stones made it 1-0 (23. ).

Liverpool reacted energetically and almost completely took control of the game while City retreated.

This resulted in a great chance for Dominik Szoboszlai from a beautiful cross from Harvey Elliott, who headed past the goal from five meters completely unmarked (31').

Díaz could also have equalized, but missed from the edge of the penalty area (42').

Díaz misses his chances

It was only after half-time that the home team managed to equalize, benefiting from a back pass from Nathan Aké that was too short.

Núñez intervened and was kicked over by the City goalkeeper when he received the ball, and Mac Allister converted the penalty (50th).

Ederson was injured when he fouled and had to be replaced shortly afterwards by ex-Bielefeld player Stefan Ortega (56th).

With the exception of one attempt by Phil Foden (58th), Liverpool remained the more dangerous team - especially due to Díaz, who missed several chances: a ball missed on the counterattack (59th), and he shot over after a dream pass from substitute Salah (63rd). and five meters from the goal he let Kyle Walker steal the ball away from him (64').

The next opportunity for Liverpool, this time through Núñez, was thwarted by Ortega with a brilliant performance (71'), before things got strange at the other end: Aké crossed, Kelleher punched the ball forward, where it bounced off Foden's upper body and onto the crossbar (73'). .).

In the final phase, a shot from Jérémy Doku landed on the inside post (89').

The Belgian was once again the center of attention shortly before the final whistle because he had his foot high up against Mac Allister in his own penalty area (90th + 9th).

Despite checking the slow motion, there was no penalty, so the score remained a draw.
