Borussia Dortmund remained undefeated away from home in the Bundesliga for the eighth time in a row.

At Werder Bremen, BVB won 2-1 (2-0) with goals from Donyell Malen (21st minute) and Jadon Sancho (38th).

Justin Njinmah scored for the hosts (70th).

Thanks to the success, Dortmund is back in fourth place in the table and is one point ahead of RB Leipzig in the fight for qualification for the Champions League.

Bremen remains in midfield in ninth place.

Werder started the game on equal terms and produced some good attacks.

The best chance came after a corner from Mitchell Weiser, but he didn't hit the ball properly (15').

The other team took the lead when Julian Brandt shot from a distance and Malen used the rebound for a side kick (21').

Njinmah's shot into the side netting (29th) was Bremen's best scene before the score was 2-0.

BVB switched well through the middle and Brandt sent Sancho into a duel with Julián Malatini.

The Englishman dribbled past his opponent and slotted into the short corner from a tight angle (38').

It was Sancho's first goal since his return to Dortmund.

Sabitzer tackles Weiser and flies off the pitch

Bremen's answer was a dangerous free kick from Marvin Ducksch, which curled into the left corner.

BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel came close (45th).

An ugly scene followed: Marcel Sabitzer stradded too late and caught Weiser on the heel with an open sole.

Referee Deniz Aytekin acknowledged the action with a red card (45th + 1).

Outnumbered and with a two-goal lead, Dortmund let off the gas while Werder became more active.

In the 55th minute, Ducksch shot just past the right post and the game gradually tipped over.

Then Romano Schmid was played steeply behind substitute Mats Hummels and passed across to Njinmah, who only had to shoot in the center (70th).

Bremen was back at it and remained dangerous.

A blocked free kick cross landed at Weiser's feet, who missed from ten meters (79').

In a tight final phase, Dortmund successfully defended their narrow lead.
